Model Portfolio Photography, May T

May T - Monochrome Portraits

This set of 'black and white' portraits are largely untouched, save for the conversion to black and white. There has been absolutely no cosmetic retouching or alteration of light and shadow. The only creative addition is a touch of grain to work with the monochrome conversion. The images were taken using a single strobe at around 7-8 feet, light was modified with a 7" reflector and 20 degree honeycomb grid. I tried in this series to simply capture raw emotion, May's strong yet delicate look is perfect for this style of aged treatment. More to follow. Hair / make up, Rachael Davies, Art direction, styling and photography, me.

Male Model Head Shot - Daniel

DanielThis is Daniel. The portrait was taken at 200mm using a single strobe and 10 degree grid. The shot is an out-take from a magazine spread I shot a couple of weeks back for 125 magazine. Check back for news of publication.

I've also completed a spread this week fot new magazine Labb, the launch issue hiots the stands in February. Again, check back for snippets and more information. I intend shooting another spread for 125 for the next issue, as well as for S Magazine. If you're interested in working with me on these forthcoming high fashion / editorial pieces, then please get in touch.

Also - the La Chaise project is really taking shape - I now have the chair - a fantastic retro 40s style pod. Thank you to everyone who has been in touch, I'll be releasing the shoot dates in a  week or so. The two spreads have taken up so much of my spare time that it's taken a little while to sort things out. While I'm about it, if anyone has a posable manequin they don't want.. I'm after one. Doesn't matter if it's a bit bashed and bruised as intend on covering it anyway. Cash & tea waiting :)

La Chaise et La Chemise.

La Chaise et La Chemise is my project for the first 6 months of 2010. It is a study in minimalism, portraiture and human interaction with the inanimate. The rules are simple.. a cove, a simple chair and a plain white cotton shirt. Those are the only props provided, it is up to the subjects how they use them in order to best display themselves and their personalities. Models are welcome to bring a single aditional prop of their choice to finish the scene.

The project will be shot with the minimum of lighting and no tricks. It will be available to view in print, online and in syndication.

Models, male and female with editorial experience, fashion structure and runway physique, please contact me through the web site if you would like to be involved. Hair and make up will be provided and the finish collaborative. I've no intention brieifing creatives into a house style. Not doing so should make the project all the more interesting. As the shoots and project take shape i will post the results to this site in the first instance, and create a new site for it once the collection of images reaches a critical mass.

I would like to make prints available, so please bear in mind that I will need a full release from those involved. All involved will receive full credit and high resolution images with full non commercial usage. I'm happy for those who wiss to be involved in the project to wear underwear if they so wish. Again, I've no intention of briefing what form that should take. Your choice, your set. The only direction you will receive will be based on any technicalities of lighting positions and perhaps a little posture.

Interesting? Then please get in touch
